Genevieve English, 94, of Springfield, NJ passed away at Garden Terrace Nursing Home in Chatham on August 7, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. James the Apostle Church, 45 S. Springfield Ave. in Springfield on Saturday, August 11th at 10:00am. Interment will follow at St. Teresa Cemetery in Summit. Friends are invited to visit at Wm. A. Born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ, the daughter of William and Mary (Boyle) Burke, Genevieve graduated from Battin High School. She had lived in Springfield for 60 years before moving to Chatham in 2014. In her early years, Genevieve worked as a model in New York City. Later on she was an administrative assistant with Phoenix Mutual Life in West Orange until her retirement in 1990. Genevieve was an active parishioner at St. James the Apostle including Eucharistic Minister and membership in the St. James Mother’s Guild and the St. James Senior Citizens.
Genevieve was the beloved wife of the late William English. She was the loving mother of Eileen English of Manhattan. She is also survived by her brother Al Burke as well as many loving relatives. She is predeceased by her brothers, Bill Burke and Jack Burke. Genevieve’s family would like to give a special thanks to all the staff at Garden Terrace for their kindness and care.
