Gladys M. Soto, 90, of Morris Plains, NJ, passed peacefully at her home on Tuesday, August 18, 2020. Born in Moca, Puerto Rico, she moved with her parents to Brooklyn, New York in 1941 where she lived for over 60 years before moving to Morris Plains with her daughters, Karen and Nanette. Gladys and her husband Juan (a.ka. Nito) were married for 40 years until his death in 2000. She worked for over 20 years as an aide for adults with disabilities at the Nina Eaton Psychiatric Center in Staten Island, NY. She was a woman of faith and was devoted to her family. She was fiercely loyal and supportive to everyone she loved and cared about. Gladys was a beloved cousin, aunt and surrogate grandmother to many extended family members. Her feisty personality was reflected in her love of the color red. She was happiest while shopping and relished a good sale especially when it came to shoes and hats. Gladys is survived by her two daughters, Karen and Nanette Soto. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 24, 2020 at 10:00 am at Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel Church, Cedar Knolls. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visiting hours, Sunday, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm & 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Bradley Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd. Whippany, NJ.
