Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather, Guilford William Gaylord, 78, of Short Hills, NJ, died peacefully on May 16, 2024.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Karen and daughters Meredith (Henry Swormstedt) and Whitney (Thomas Peri), as well as his beloved grandchildren Heidi, Hannah, Casper and Naomi. He is also survived by his sister, Cathy Wilson of Reno, Nevada.
Born on September 15, 1945, in Hollywood, Ca. Guil graduated from Menlo School, California in 1964 and later received his BA from Stanford University. In 1971, he graduated from Harvard Law School and commenced a 35-year law career as partner at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley, & Mcloy in New York. Guil and his wife Karen met in Boston, married in 1971 in Wheeling, WV and moved to Short Hills, NJ in 1975 where they raised their family. He was a long time Trustee of the Dorothea L. Leonhardt Foundation and Millburn Public Library Board. His professional accolades are countless; his heart was as big as he was tall. He loved travel, cooking, golf, the arts and his beloved dogs.
