Gustave A. Hunkele

Gustave A. Hunkele, 90, of Madison, NJ, passed peacefully on February 8, 2022. Born in Newark, NJ, raised in Belleville, NJ, resided in Maplewood, NJ for 35 years. Gus has lived in Madison, NJ for the last 20 years.

Gustave was a graduate of the Newark School of Fine & Industrial Arts. He served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, 1952-1954. He was a successful entrepreneur starting his business Norgus Silkscreen Printing Company in Clifton, NJ over 50 years ago. He was Past President of Maplewood’s Durand-Hedden House & Garden Association, a member of the Walpack Historical Society, a Member of the Livingston Art Association and a Lifetime Member of the Nereid Boat and Rowing Club. He was also a member of the American Legion in Madison-Florham Park. He was an Artist, an American History buff, and enjoyed researching family genealogy.

Gustave is pre-deceased by his parents, Gustave A. and Ethel Shaw Hunkele and his sister, Deborah McGraw of Oakland, CA. Gus is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia E. Engstrom Hunkele, his daughter Erica Lenzo and her husband Daniel and a granddaughter, Fiona Lenzo.

There will be a visitation from 11 am to 12 pm followed by a Prayer Service on Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. Chatham, NJ.
