Harold G. Taylor

Harold G. Taylor, 86, of New Providence passed away at Brighton Gardens in Florham Park on October 18th. A Funeral Service will be held at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St, Chatham on Thursday, October 24th at 11:00am. Interment is private. Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm.

Born in Newark and raised in Maplewood, Harold was a long time resident of New Providence. He had served in the Navy and Marines during both WWII and Korea. Harold was a foreman at the Day Tool and Die Company in Somerville. He was a long time active member of the American Legion Post 433 of New Providence, The 1st Marine Division Association, New Jersey Chapter and the New Providence PAL. Harold was also the co-chair of the Korean War Memorial at Picatinny Arsenal.

Harold was the beloved husband of the late Genevieve. He was the loving father of Kenneth, Loretta, Brian, the late Joseph and the late Douglas. He is also survived by his 6 cherished grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, dear sisters Beverly and Claire and daughter in law Wendy. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Harold’s memory may be made to either, L/Cpl Robert J. Slattery Detachment 206 Marine Corps League, P.O. Box 566, West Caldwell, NJ 07007-0566 or American Legion Post 433, 357 Elkwood Ave, New Providence, NJ 07974. Semper Fidelis.
