~~Herbert Anderson, 95, of Cedar Knolls passed away at his home on October 4, 2017. A funeral service will be held at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd, in Whippany on Tuesday, October 10th at 11:00am. Friends are invited to visit from 10 to 11am prior to the service. Born and raised in Green Village, NJ, the son of Herbert and Julia (Hinds) Anderson, Herb graduated from Chatham High School. He had lived in Cedar Knolls since 1951. A graduate of the Stafford Hall School of Business in Summit, Herb also served his country in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and received a Presidential Unit Citation with the Sixth Marine Division. He was the head of the accounting department at McCarter & English, LLP in Newark. A bronze member of the American Legion and a longtime member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Morristown, Herb was also a past member of the Green Village Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved both playing and watching baseball.
Herb was the beloved husband of 71 years to Frances. He was the loving father of Scott and his wife Sherry and Herbert and his wife Jane. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Brian Anderson and Jenna Anderson Lucas and her husband Jon and his dear sister Helen Ruhnke and her husband Joseph.
