Herbert W. Quinton, 93 of Springfield, New Jersey passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Overlook Hospital.
Herbert was born on October 21, 1923 in Newark, NJ. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert E. and Bertha (nee Kline) Quinton.
He was a graduate of Jonathan Dayton High School, Springfield, NJ. Herbert served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II and was a 70 year member of the American Legion in Springfield. He worked as a carpenter for the Local # 620, Madison, NJ and loved working and building things. He was also a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Springfield.
Herbert was predeceased by his beloved wife, Doris Quinton. He was the loving father of daughter, Donna L. Hydock and husband Ed. He was the cherished grandfather of Kelly Q. Cavallo and husband Jim and Courtney Q. Campbell and husband John. In addition he is survived by 5 great-granddaughters; Madison, Emma, Lucy, Kennedy, and Quinton.
A Memorial Service will be 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church of Springfield, 210 Morris Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church in Herbert’s name.
