Herman E. Maurer, of New Providence, passed away on July 4, 2020. He was 87.
Born in Elizabeth and raised in Union, Herman was a graduate of Union High School and attended Middlesex County College. He resided for many years in South Plainfield.
Herman served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He returned to New Jersey to become the fourth generation to run the family automotive repair business in Elizabeth, which started with wagon building. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. For those who knew him, Herman will be remembered for his ever-present smile, friendly nature, and profound love of his family.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Anne (Signorello). He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Maurer and her husband Richard Millet; his son Wayne and his wife Lauren; and his grandchildren, Savannah, Gunnar and Maverick Maurer.
