Beloved wife, loving mother and grandmother, devoted sister, and cherished friend to many

Mrs. Hermina A. Scott (nee Mayer), 83, of Cedar Knolls passed away on Thursday, December 6. “Minnie”, as she was commonly known, was a lifelong resident of New Jersey – she grew up in Jersey City and Chatham and later resided in Cedar Knolls for over 50 years. She was a homemaker and also worked in the Hanover Township Public School System for many years.

Minnie was a proud member of Notre Dame Church in Cedar Knolls and took great joy in being part of the Catholic community and her faith in the Almighty.

She is predeceased by her devoted husband , Willy, after 51 years of marriage. Minnie is survived by her adoring children Karen Birmingham and her husband Dean of Georgetown, FL, Lisa Shaw and her husband Bryan of Randolph, NJ, Kevin Scott of Sagle, ID, and Paul Scott and his wife Eileen of Brookside, NJ, and two sisters Henrietta Schott of Florham Park, NJ and HeleneGray of Stirling, NJ. She will be a guardian angel for all, including her nine grandchildren, who will miss Nanny deeply and find great comfort in the memory of her warm brown eyes, the softness of her hands, and the kindness of her always-giving demeanor.

Minnie was the model of an ideal wife, selfless and loving mother and grandmother, kind neighbor, and good friend. There was never problem too imposing that a tall glass of her famous iced tea or a plate of her fantastic chocolate chip cookies could not overcome. Minnie was modest in many ways but never when it came to showing her love to those she cared about – the generosity of her kind nature poured out in every word and action.

Visitation will be at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd Whippany on Sunday, December 9, from 2- 6 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday December 10, at 10am at Notre Dame Church in Cedar Knolls.
