Jack O. Kalnins- 90,”Strong Family Man”
Jack O. Kalnins, a longtime summit resident, died peacefully on tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the age of 90. Born in Saldus, Latvia on June 6, 1922, he was forced to leave his country during WW II. he lived in europe and England for several years before coming to the United States in 1951. he received his advanced degree in finance fro La Salle University, NY and moved to Summit in 1955. His career ws spent in a number of financial roles within the publishing industry. He was Chief Financial Officer for Look Magazine, Ridge Press & Rutledge Books and Nuestro Magazine. His last position before his final retirement in 2007 was Chief Financial Officer for the Advanced Vision & Laser Care Center in Morristown. He loved fishing, traveling and reading, especially about history and current events. Above all, he loved spending time with his family. Jack is pre-deceased by his wife of 56 years, Ines olitta Kalnins. He was very devoted and proud father of Linda Y. Kalnins MD. He is also survived by his granddaughter Kristin Osika and son-in-law Chris Osika, as well as his siter Ilona Ansons.
