Janet A. Gilmartin, 78, of Chatham, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at home, surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Scotland, Jan came to the United States in 1976, and lived in Oak Ridge, New Jersey. She has lived in Chatham for the last 12 years. An incredibly selfless person who took joy in caring for others, Jan managed Maple Shade Rest Home in Oak Ridge from 1976-1995. A talented knitter and crocheter, she belonged to St. Pat’s Knitting Circle. She also belonged to Shelter Harbor Marina. Jan’s greatest joy was being a grandmother to Kayla and Iain, who’s lives she was an integral part of. They were her world.
Jan was predeceased by her husband Henry. She is survived by her children, Janet Langborgh and her husband Dan of Chatham, New Jersey and James Gilmartin and his wife Regina of Hawthorne, New Jersey; grandchildren Kayla of Orlando, Florida and Iain Langborgh of Key West, Florida, and her brothers Iain and James Neil of Cumbernauld, Scotland.
