Janan Weber

Janan Weber, of Tewksbury Township, died on November 11 at age 69. The cause of death was lung cancer. Mrs. Weber was born Janan Hammar in Albany, NY, and grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Dunbarton College in Washington, DC, and upon graduation went to work for AT&T in Washington. She remained employed at AT&T in various capacities, culminating in assignments as a marketing manager responsible for such services as 800 service and international business service.

She was always interested in the arts, and after leaving AT&T in 2000 she served on the boards of the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey in Summit, NJ, and the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown. She organized a number of fund raising galas for both organizations, and was the founder of the Art Upstairs Gallery at MPAC, where she acted as curator until her death.

She married Joseph Weber in 1975, and is survived by her husband; three stepchildren – Leslie Weber of Brooklyn, NY, Jonathan Weber of Tiburon, CA and David Weber of Pittsburgh, PA; two sisters, Julia Potter of Washington, DC and Barbara Compitello of Rochester, NY; one brother, Benjamin Hammar of Ashton, MD, and six grandchildren
