Jane Adams

Jane Adams, of Union, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. She was 87 years old.

Born to Thomas and Sophie Leahy in 1928, Jane grew up in the Newark area. She met her husband, George, in 1946 at a dance in Elizabeth and they were married in 1947. Jane and George shared a loving marriage of over 63 years before George’s death in 2010.

In addition to raising her family with George in Newark, NJ, Jane worked as a Secretary at Rutgers University for over 15 years, a job she truly enjoyed. In her spare time, she was an avid bowler and bowled competitively in several leagues across Union and Essex Counties. She also loved going for long walks and was known to travel long distances by foot just for the pure enjoyment of it. Above all, Jane’s family and friends will remember her for her love of animals, large and small. She found joy in rescuing dogs and cats over the years and always had pets of her own at home as well.

Jane is predeceased by her husband, the Late George A. Adams. She leaves behind two loving children: Patricia J. Adams of Lincoln Park, NJ, and Thomas Adams and his wife Michele of Cedar Grove, NJ; as well as two beloved grandsons, Gregory and Steven Adams.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 9:15am at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 1212 Kelly Street, Union. Visitation for Jane will be held on Friday, December 18, from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM at the Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Avenue, Union. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, Jane’s family invites those wishing to contribute to make a donation to an animal welfare charity of their choice.
