Jean L. Geiger

Jean Lambert Geiger, 98, of Little Silver, NJ passed away on November 24, 2024.  Funeral services are private.  Arrangements are by Bradley, Brough & Dangler Funeral Home in Summit.

The daughter of Harry L. and Gertrude (Paulus) Geiger, Jean was born and raised in South Orange. She resided for most of her life overlooking the Shrewsbury River in Oceanport, N.J., before moving to Little Silver 20 years ago. Jean was a graduate of Columbia High School in South Orange, and attended Drexel University.

Jean spent her entire working career with the New York Stock Exchange where she led the public relations and visitor education functions. In this role she interacted with many notable individuals, among them the Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin and the Chairman of the U.S. military Joint Chiefs of Staff.

An avid gardener, Jean enjoyed swimming and hiking. She traversed the entire length of the Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia, and hiked extensively in Scotland, Ireland and England, with her longtime partner John “Jack” McRoberts.

Jean was member of the Women’s Club of Little Silver and served as a dedicated volunteer with the Monmouth Museum in Lincroft.

Jean was the beloved aunt of Joseph H. Walsh and his wife Deborah, and Shirley Walsh Horbatt and her husband William. She is also survived by her great nieces, Heather Horbatt and Stephanie Horbatt and her great nephew, William R. Horbatt, Jr.  She was preceded in death by her sister G. Shirley Walsh.
