Jean M. Pfundstein, 86, formerly of Chatham Township, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Morristown Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born on November 23, 1937, in Queens, NY, Jean was the second daughter of the late William and Anna (Schumacher) Hoenighausen. She received her early education at Sacred Heart Academy in Glendale, NY, and graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, NY. Jean worked for several years until marrying Robert G Pfundstein on June 10, 1961. They were married for 46 years living in Singapore and Chatham before retiring to Palm Beach Gardens, FL and the Delaware shore.
Jean is survived by her three loving children: Joann Pfundstein, MD of Reston, VA; Susan Page (Joe Page) of Long Valley, NJ; and Robert Pfundstein (Caroline Pfundstein) of Far Hills, NJ. She was a proud grandmother to Kelsea, Megan, Lindsay, Samantha, Matthew, and Amanda. Jean also leaves behind several adoring nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
Jean found great comfort and community through her faith. She was an active member of several Catholic churches throughout her life, where she appreciated the sense of belonging and spiritual guidance they provided.
Jean had an eye for fashion and carried herself with elegance. She enjoyed socializing with friends through activities like card games and golf, where her warmth and grace left a lasting impression on those around her.
A funeral Mass honoring Jean’s life will be held on Saturday, July 20, at 2:00 PM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 234 Southern Boulevard, Chatham Township.
