Joan Conlon, 72, of Chatham, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013. Born and raised in Newark, Joan resided in Union for many years before moving to Chatham in 2013. Joan began her career at Gibraltar Savings Bank in Newark, where she was employed for 31 years, rising to the position of vice president. She then became business manager at St Michael’s church in Union, where she worked for 16 years before her retirement. Joan was also a long time member of the Vailsburg (Newark) Ambulance Squad.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 9:15am at St Michael’s Church, 1212 Kelly St., corner of Vauxhall Rd., Union. There will be a visitation on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave., Union .
Joan was the daughter of the late Brendan and Kathryn (McMahon) Duffe. She was predeceased by her husband, William, in 2011. Joan is survived by three brothers, John B. Duffe and his wife Dorothy, Reverend Stephen J. Duffe, and Kevin J. Duffe and his wife Gail; nieces Karen Trucco and Maureen Artuso; nephew Steven Duffe; six grand nieces and one grand nephew.
