Joan Iris Stahl

~~Joan Iris Stahl, of Brick, formerly of Chatham, NJ passed away on April 23, 2016. She was 80. Born on December 24, 1935 to Maxine Virginia Handschuh and Edward “Duffy” Herman Handschuh, Joan grew up in Newark, eventually moving to Irvington, NJ where she met her husband of 56 years, William J. Stahl, Sr. She had four children, Edward Herman Stahl and his wife Caralynne, Kim Maxine (Stahl) Patterson and her husband David, Sherri Joan (Stahl) Book, and William J. Stahl, Jr. and his wife Suzanne (Lily). She is also survived by six grandchildren, Bruce Edward Book, III, Brittany Joan Book, Brinalynn Book, James John Mastrobuono, III and his wife Kodi, David Gordon Patterson, Jr., Ashley Victoria Vieira, two great-grandsons, arriving in May, 2016, and brother-in-law, Richard P. Stahl. She is predeceased by her brother-in-law Otto J. Stahl, Jr.

Joan waitressed for Kless Diner in Irvington for around ten years, where she met her future husband. Joan enjoyed crafting, knitting, crocheting, and loved playing bingo, and slot machines down in Atlantic City. She was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother and accrued many special friends over the years. She will be greatly missed by her beloved family and friends.

Friends may visit on Monday, May 2nd and Tuesday, May 3rd from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Chatham. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Church, 234 Southern Blvd, Chatham on Wednesday May 4th at 10:00 am.
