Joan Sabarese Pastore,84, formerly of Brick, NJ, passed away at Morristown Memorial Medical Center on June 25, 2024 after a brief illness. She was a recent resident of Arbor Terrace Retirement Community in Basking Ridge NJ.
Joan was born to Albert and Louise Capodanno on December 5, 1939 in Newark, NJ. She lived much of her adult life in Springfield, NJ where she raised her two sons and worked at Ferraro’s Restaurant in Westfield, NJ. She later moved to Brick, NJ and was a communicant and volunteer at the Church of the Visitation. Her home was her sanctuary, as was her alone time. Joan was an excellent cook and avid and energetic gardener well into her 80’s. Her favorite place was the Dollar Store.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband Anthony Pastore, her parents, and her brother William Capodanno.
Joan is survived by her children Rick Sabarese and his wife Lisa, Michael Sabarese, Sr, and his wife Liz: her grandchildren Tory, Amanda, Angela, Melissa, Bree, Michael Jr, Ricky , her sister Debra Barny, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her devoted dog Sambucca II.
