John “Tony” Altamura Jr., 91, of Cedar Knolls passed away at his home on June 21, 2018 after a long illness. Born in Morristown, the son of the late John and Pauline (Izzo) Altamura, Tony was raised in Madison and had lived in Cedar Knolls for the past 35 years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Tony worked for International Paper Company in Whippany for over 30 years. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and most of all spending time with his beloved grandsons who were the light of his life.
Tony was the beloved husband of the late Antoinette Altamura. He was the loving father of Antoinette Shiel and her husband Paul of Madison and Lisa O’Leary and her husband Chris of Succasunna. He is also survived by his cherished grandsons, Clayton and Derek O’Leary. He is predeceased by his brothers Joseph and Alfonso and his sister Elizabeth.
Friends are invited to visit at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd in Whippany on Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 3 to 7 pm. Interment will be private at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tony’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
