John Bace Sr. of Millburn, NJ, passed peacefully on October 30, 2017. Born and raised in Summit, John has lived in Millburn since 1954. John is pre-deceased by his wife, Mary E. Bace, (nee D’Ecclesis), and his son Frank. He is survived by his two sons, John Bace Jr. and his wife Marla and Ralph Bace, grandfather of Toni Marie Bace, Jessica Diehl, Melissa and Keith Romelli, and his two sisters, Grace Poli and Carmel Barry. At age 17, John as a Merchant Marine helped bring the troops home from Naples and Rio de Janeiro at the end of WWII. He served proudly and was an Army Sergeant First Class during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1952. He was a member of the Italian-American Civil Federation in Summit. John was the owner/operator of John Bace Disposal in Clark for 33 years. After selling the business in 1985, he drove for Frank Bace Dispoal, Madison NJ and for Forgione Disposal in Bernardsville, NJ until his retirement at age 73. A Prayer Service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10 am at Bradley Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave., Springfield, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Teresa’s Cemetery.
