John D. Mantone, 69, of Madison, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4, 2017 surrounded by his family.

John was born on September 11, 1947 in Summit, NJ. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anthony and Margaret (nee Esposito) Mantone.

John was a graduate of Madison High School in which he played football and was known by all his friends as “Moose.” He was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a mailman for the Madison Post Office for 39 years. John owned and operated his landscaping and lawn mower repair business. He was devout catholic in which he was a longtime parishioner of St. Vincent’s Church, Madison where he attended daily mass. He was an animal lover and adored his dogs and cats.

He was the loving father to daughters; Melanie Mantone and Andrea Thomas and husband Paul. He was the cherished grandfather to granddaughters; Audrey Thomas, Violet and Skye Paulsen. In addition he is survived by his brother, Ralph Mantone and wife Patricia, beloved dogs Ralphie and Zoe and his cats.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Chatham, NJ 07928. A Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison, NJ 07940. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed in his name to Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter, 194 NJ-10, East Hanover, NJ 07936.
