John F. Simone, 84, of Summit, NJ, passed peacefully on July 2, 2017. Born and raised in Newark, John lived in Summit for 37 years. He served proudly in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. John was a Claims Manager with Kemper Insurance in Summit for 30 years, retiring in 1992.
He was passionate for the arts, golf and cooking. An avid oil painter and long time member of the St. Teresa’s choir. He enjoyed many rounds at the Summit Municipal golf course and the lasting friendships developed there.
He is survived by his wife Rose Marie Simone (nee Kotch), his two children, Lisa Simone Westlake and Will Milligan, grandchildren, Matthew Westlake, Alex, Weston and Whitaker Milligan, brother of Marie Preta and Sam Simone, and the late Fred Simone. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 10:45 am at St. Teresa of Avila Church. Entombment at St. Teresa’s Cemetery. Visiting hours, Thursday, 3pm to 7 pm at the Bradley Brough & Dangler Funeral Home, 299 Morris Ave. Summit, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s name may be made to the St. Teresa’s Church Choir, 306 Morris Ave. Summit, NJ 07901.
