John Joseph Christie, 90 of Springfield, formerly of Union, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016.
Born and raised in Newark, John lived in Union for over 40 years, where he was a police officer, retiring in 1984 as Detective Lieutenant. He more recently resided in Springfield. John was a US Navy veteran and enjoyed golfing.
Predeceased by his wife Evelyn, brother Frank, and son in law Murdoch C. Walker; John is survived by his daughters Kathy Bongiorno and her husband Bill, Leona Walker, Diane Kraemer and her husband Stephen, and Evelyn Habe and her husband Thomas; grandchildren Danielle, David, Robert, Nicole, Cory, Michelle, Kimberly, Kristina and Stephanie; and great grandchildren Nathan, Chase, Simone, Maxwell, Camila, Rebecca and Samantha.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 10:30am at Bradley Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave., Springfield. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. There will be a visitation on Monday from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
