John J. E. Denman Sr

Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather & Great-Grandfather

John J. E. Denman, Sr. a lifelong resident of Summit, NJ, passed peacefully at his home on October 19, 2021. John is pre-deceased by his loving wife, Loretta Luria Denman, his parents, Kathryn Durkin and Howard Denman, brothers, James Howard and Robert Edward, and son, John J. E. Denman. He is the beloved father of eight children, Rob (Jackie), Ric (Mimi), Kevin (Judy), Brian (Joan), Loretta (Mike), Nancy (Gene), Jamie and Paul, 24 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Jack was a lifelong resident of Summit, NJ, and a member of St. Teresa of Avila Parish. Jack attended St. Teresa Elementary School, Oratory Prep School and Seton Hall University. Jack was a Certified Public Accountant and had worked for the Haskins and Sells Accounting Firm and for many years with the Federal Paper Board Company. Jack was a former president of the New Jersey Chapter of Tax Executive Institute of NJ and a Professor in the Accounting Program at Seton Hall University. Jack was an active volunteer at St. Teresa’s parish working with the CYO basketball and track teams, Cub Scouts as well as serving as a lector, Eucharistic minister and member of the parish council. Jack was a volunteer driver for the Summit Red Cross.

Dad and Mom made many good and life long friends from their early day at St. Teresa elementary school through their adult years at St. Teresa’s parish, Copper Springs Swim and Tennis Club and Canoe Brook Country Club. Dad was a fan and supporter of Oak Knoll School, Oratory Prep, Seton Hall Prep and Seton Hall University (especially the Pirate’s basketball team). Memorable trips to Ireland to visit with the Irish cousins.

Dad thanks for being a good role model.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 9:30 am at St. Teresa of Avila Church, Summit, NJ. Interment St. Teresa’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. Chatham, NJ on Sunday, October 24th from 1 pm to 5 pm and Monday, October 25th from 4 pm to 8 pm.
