John F. Lauer

“LOVED GOD, LOVED PEOPLE”

John F. Lauer, 69 of Westfield, NJ was called home to be with his Savior on December 13th 2018. John’s untimely departure has left us with a void in our hearts but has filled his place in heaven where he is now able to celebrate this Christmas with the Lord. He graduated in 1968 from Westfield High School and a 1972 graduate of Upsala College in East Orange, NJ.

John retired from New Jersey Transit with 43 years of service. John loved his job and appreciated the friendships he made there. John was a devoted, active member of Liberty Church (Emmauel), in Union, NJ where he worshipped faithfully for many years & enjoyed meaningful relationships with precious friends. John was preceded by his parents, Raymond & Shirley Lauer, two aunts, Anne & Fern Bailey and Uncle Stetson Bailey. Left to cherish his memory is his brother Chuck, sister-in-law Carolyn of Amissville, VA, Uncle Foster & Aunt Nancy Mitchem of Cary, NC. Cousins Jill Rusche of Holly Springs, NC, Laurie Beauchamp (Ed) of Cary, NC and Bruce Bailey of Union, NJ. Also left to remember their dear Uncle John is David Lauer, Rebecca Perez (Jason), Jeremy Beauchamp (Sheri), Ashley Beauchamp and Lindsay Creech (Matthew).

John was anxiously awaiting the birth of his first great-nephew, Owen in March, 2019.  John will be missed by the precious friends he made over the years, and especially the wonderful servers at the Westfield Diner. He lived life to the fullest and had a love & compassion for people God brought across his path.
