Joseph P. Kenny, Sr., 89, of Chatham, Twp., NJ passed away on September 28th, 2020.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Church, 234 Southern Blvd. in Chatham, NJ on Tuesday, October 6th at 11am. Interment will follow at Fair Mount Cemetery in Chatham.  Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. in Chatham on Monday from 4pm to 8pm.

Born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx, the son of Joseph and Rose (Byrne) Kenny, Joe had also lived in Union City for several years before moving to Chatham in 1969. He proudly served in the Army during the Korean conflict and upon returning, graduated from City College of New York under the G.I. Bill. Joe spent over 35 years on Wall Street as a corporate bond trader for several firms, finishing his career at Freeman Securities in Jersey City.  A 45 year member of Corpus Christi, he sat on the planning group that helped fund the expansion of the old church to its present state.  Additionally, he served as a Eucharistic Minister both at church and to those of the parish that were infirmed and could not make it to church.  He was also a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and the Corporate Bond Traders Association.  Joe was an avid N.Y. Giants, N.Y. Knicks and Mets fan.  He was an expert skier and also loved to play squash, tennis and basketball. Joe loved to talk politics, was a voracious reader, and enjoyed old western movies and jazz music, especially Frank Sinatra and Benny Goodman.  He was extremely outgoing and loved to tell jokes. He will be fondly remembered as a warm caring man who was often referred to as “The Mayor” because he spoke to everyone.

Joe was the beloved husband of 43 years to the late Elizabeth A. Kenny.  He was the loving father of Patricia Kenny and Joseph P. Kenny. Jr. and his wife Maria. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Morgan and Brendan.
