Josephine Bankes, 84, of Newark, passed away on March 24, 2020. Funeral arrangements are private. There will be a memorial celebration announced at a later date. Arrangements are by Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home in Union.
Josephine was born and raised in Newark, the daughter of John and Anna (Ianelli) Santoro. In her earlier years she worked at Chase Chemical Co., her father’s store and several local restaurants. Josephine will be remembered for her work ethic and her devotion to her family and faith.
Josephine was the devoted wife of the late Paul Bankes. She was the loving mother of Toni Marie Collazo and Paul Bankes. She is also survived by her cherished granddaughter Gabriella Collazo, her dear sisters, Frances Gomes and JoAnn Fantasia as well as many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers Alfonso Santoro and Gaetano Santoro.
