Josephine “Jo”, Plesnik, 85, of Leisure Knoll, Manchester, NJ, passed peacefully on September 11, 2022. Jo was born in Newark, NJ and was a 1955 graduate of St. Michael’s High School where she was part of the “Coffee Pot Nine”, a circle of close-knit friends that she maintained throughout her life. Jo began her career at New Jersey Bell in Newark, NJ, where she met her husband and later married and raised her family in Roselle, NJ. She continued her career at R.M. Donaldson Associates and Kerr Steamship in Cranford, NJ.
Jo retired and moved to Leisure Knoll in Manchester, NJ in 2000, where she was part of the Irish Club, Red Hats and any and all social activities. She was an expert baker and received continual requests from family for her magic cookie bars and cream puffs at family events and holidays. She loved celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with friends and family at the Belmar parade and other Irish events.
She traveled the world with her extensive network of Irish cousins and friends.
Jo is predeceased by her parents, Timothy and Helen Hopkins, and her husband, Paul M. Plesnik. She is survived by her children, Amy Plesnik of Chatham, NJ and Paul T. Plesnik of Denville, NJ. Loving grandmother of Timothy Plesnik. She is survived by her sisters, Helen T. Hopkins of Sea Girt, Genevieve Becht of Manasquan, Kay O’Keefe of Manasquan and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 10 am at Corpus Christi Church, 234 Southern Boulevard, Chatham Township, NJ. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday, September 16th, 2pm to 6pm, at the William A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. Chatham, NJ.
