Judith A. Ward of Springfield passed away at Overlook Medical Center on Thursday, August 17, 2023. She was 81.
Born in Newark, NJ, to the late Edward and Evelyn Kaye, Judies grew up in Springfield and attended St. James and Caldwell Elementary Schools, was a graduate of Bayley Ellard High School and attended Seton Hall Nursing School. She lived in Springfield her whole life except for two years when she and her husband, Mike, lived in Queens. They moved back to Springfield in 1973 to live with her dad after her mom passed.
Judie, Mike, her dad, Eddie, and their dog, Kimmie traveled cross-country several times visiting friends and exploring many cities of interest.
Judies loved watching sports on TV, especially the Yankees and Giants. She also enjoyed watching figure skating, tennis, and golf, especially playoff games and finals. The Olympics, whether summer or winter, was a passion. Her nightly routine included watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
She loved traveling to the islands, in particular Nassau, Bahamas, where she met and later married husband, David, to whom she was married for many years. David was an integral part of her later life, staying in contact and recently visiting her, giving her much joy and conversation reminiscing about the “good ol’ days.”
Her sense of humor never ceased and was a constant companion.
She worked at Wing HVAC Company in Cranford for many years.
She is survived by her cousins, Karen Bender; Kristopher Bender; Kerryanne Hollis and her husband Jonas, along with their children, Nolan, Matthew, and Hazel; Ron Liss and his wife Virginia, their daughter Jennifer Zambarano and her husband Rob and their sons Tyler and Mason and Ron and Virginia’s son Jeffery and his wife Kara and their daughter’s Morgan and Katelyn.
