Karin Neighbour Mathewson, 51, of Springfield, New Jersey passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 9, 2017.
Karin was born on January 12, 1966 in Dover, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David C. and Margaret E. (nee Neighbour) Benson.
She was a 1984 graduate of New Providence High School and studied biology at Rutgers University. She worked as a former manager at Fiebush Stationery in Summit, NJ, for her beloved friend and boss, Ellis Fiebush. Karin recently worked as a Manager of billing, collections and accounts payable for Solix, Parsippany, NJ.
Karin was an avid floral and vegetable gardener. She was hopelessly devoted to her six cats, dog and parrot.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Steven Mark Mathewson. Karin is survived by her sister, Kristen L. Benson of Brooklyn, NY and her husband Abby Weissman, brother, Eric John Benson of Springfield, NJ, sister-in-law, Karen Whalen of Vero Beach, FL, brother-in-law, John Whalen of Vero Beach, FL, mother-in-law, Dana Ciardi of Vero Beach, FL, and step-mother-in-law, Maureen Mathewson. In addition she was the cherished aunt of Ryan Nicholas Benson of Baltimore, MD, Paige Julia Benson of Berkeley Heights, NJ, Kelsey Whalen of Vero Beach, FL and Cory Whalen of Vero Beach, FL.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081. Words of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the ASPCA, PO BOX 96929, Washington, DC 20090-6929.
