KENNETH CHARLES TUOHIG

Kenneth Charles Tuohig, 62, died on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem, Pa. after an inspirational fight through years of physical challenges. A resident since 2007 at Gracedale Nursing Home in Nazareth, Pa., he is survived by a large, loving family including the pride of his life, his two sons, Michael Kenneth and David Andrew, both of Dalton, Pa. Mr. Tuohig was born on July 19, 1949 in Elizabeth, N.J. to Margaret Hudson and J. Elton Tuohig. The Tuohig family moved to Chatham, N.J. in 1952.

Ken spent his youth engulfed in a love of all sports, particularly baseball. He was an original and diehard N.Y. Mets fan. He enjoyed summers at Lake Valhalla near Boonton, N.J. and at the ORYMCA Camps in Stillwater, N.J. He was active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, music, and church life. He graduated in 1968 from Chatham High School and in 1972 from Doane College in Crete, Neb. His diverse career included employment with the Boy Scouts, travel industry, security, and textile companies.

At Gracedale, Kenny, as he was known, made many terrific friends among the residents, staff and volunteers. He participated in many activities and especially loved being a cheerful ambassador for Christ at every opportunity. His favorite words were, “God loves you, and so do I,” and he genuinely meant it.

In addition to his sons, he is survived by two brothers and a sister: Paul J. Tuohig and wife, Jayne, Alexandria VA; Kathleen Tuohig Lemmon and husband, Ross, Alexandria VA (previously N. Plainfield, NJ); Stephen P. Tuohig and wife, Barbara, Dudley, MA; and Yasuyo Iguchi Ishida of Shizuoka, Japan, his American Field Service exchange “sister.” Also surviving are one aunt and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their children.
