Lawrence D. Kaufherr
02/16/1958 - 02/09/2023

Lawrence D. Kaufherr of Mountainside, New Jersey, passed away on February 9, 2023.  He was 64.

Born on February 16, 1958 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of Max and Barbara.  He spent his youth playing chess in the park and perfecting his game at handball before moving to New Jersey.

Larry lived in Union until 2015, before moving to Springfield, where he built his dream home with his wife, Lisa Kaufherr (nee D’Achille).

He was a loving husband to Lisa and dedicated father to his daughter Samantha and step-children, Juliana Monticello and Matthew Klein.

Larry enjoyed playing Chess, Rummikub and a good shot of Café Patron.  He was passionate about working out in his gym and could be found on any given Sunday afternoon yelling at the TV, forever hopeful that the New York Giants would win.  Because of Larry’s passion for the Giants, the family encourages those who attend his visitation to wear their finest Giants gear.

Larry was employed as a Superintendent with Matthew Adam Properties Inc. in Manhattan.  He woke up every morning at 4 am to take NJ Transit to Manhattan and worked hard to provide a good life for his family, which he loved more than anything.  He was looking forward to the future, retiring to Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Kaufherr (nee D’Achille), his daughter Samantha, his step-daughter Juliana Monticello, his brother Charles and wife Rebecca, his brother Michael and wife Janet, and a large family of nieces, nephews and in-laws.  He was pre-deceased by his parents, Max and Barbara (nee Caracappa), his step-son Matthew Klein and father-in-law and best bud Nick D’Achille.
