Leo Feeney, 78 of Chatham, New Jersey, died peacefully surrounded by family in his home on June 29, 2024.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, Leo was a graduate of Oratory Prep in 1963 and attended St Bonaventure University in Olean, NY.

Leo is survived by his loving wife Susan of 56 years.  He is also survived by his daughter Kristin, her husband Larry and their son, Logan, as well as his son Michael and his wife Nina and their three children Caeley, Colin and Caitlin. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Nan Feeney.

For all those that knew him, Leo was known for his larger-than-life personality, the ease in which he turned strangers into friends and was always the life of the party.  He will be missed dearly by all who loved him.

Leo began his professional career at The Equitable as an agent in April 1969. He served as a District Manager from 1972 through 1975 and again from 1979 through 1997. During his tenure as a District Manager, Leo accumulated six National Citation Awards, two at the Gold Level.  He won four District Leadership Awards, one National Builders Trophy and was District Manager of the Year in his branch four consecutive years.  Leo entered the Equitable Hall of Fame in 1984, was Legion of Honor and Order of Excalibur, receiving the Broad Sword in 1986.  Leo has been a member of the Million Dollar Round Table for the past 50 years. He worked on numerous telethons raising money for various charities.

Beyond his professional life, Leo believed in giving back to the community. He was a member of the Men’s Society of Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church in Chatham and served as an usher for many years.  Leo was the Athletic Director of the CYO basketball program from 1992 through 2002.  He also coached his son’s travel basketball and baseball teams for eight years. He served on the Oratory Alumni Council for ten years and served on the Board of Trustees from 2004-2007.

Corpus Christi Church, 234 Southern Blvd. in Chatham on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 10:00am.
Following Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery , 225 Ridgedale Ave., East Hanover.
