Lewis P. Zichichi, 80, of Short Hills, New Jersey passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Overlook Hospital.
Lewis was born on April 10, 1940 in Summit, NJ. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul and Lucille (nee Snyder) Zichichi. He was a graduate of Summit High School and served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Mullinnix DD 944.
Lewis worked as a mailman at the Millburn Post Office for many years. In his retirement, he worked as a crossing guard within the Millburn School District.
Lewis was an usher and long-time parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church, Short Hills, member of St. Rose Knights of Columbus Council No 6386 and Casa Colombo, Millburn, NJ. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, was an avid golfer and liked playing the lottery. Lewis loved dressing up as Santa for the kids through the Elks.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 47 years, Maria Zichichi. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081. A graveside service will be private. Due to the COVID pandemic, a Memorial Mass will be celebrated in his memory at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Autism Speaks.
