Lillian I. Schleupner

Lillian I. Schleupner, 95, of Springfield, NJ, passed away on November 19, 2022.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, 45 S. Springfield Ave. in Springfield on Monday, November 28th at 10am.  Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park.  Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at the church from 9:30am to 10am prior to the mass.

Lillian was born and raised in Newark, the daughter of August and Helena (Duffner) Ilg and graduated from West Side High School in 1945.  She was a copywriter and proofreader in the Foreign Dept. at Martindale-Hubbell in Summit, retiring in 1989 after 20 years of service.
Lillian loved gardening, crocheting, playing Bingo, Traveling, the Opera, and Broadway Plays.  She was very artistic and enjoyed painting and flower arranging.  In her early years, Lillian was active in the Girl Scouts and was an excellent swimmer.  She will be fondly remembered for her love and devotion to her family and especially loved visits from her grandchildren and planning fun events and field trips with them.

Lillian was the beloved wife of the late John Schleupner.  She was the loving mother of Warren Schleupner and his wife Eleanor and the late John Schleupner, Jr.  She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Heather Church (Garry) and James Wallace (Rylan), Siblings, George Ilg (Josephine) and Marie Franzo, Nieces and nephews, Helena Gregitis (David), Michelle Gomez (Gerard), Delores Sheridan (Bill), Jim Franzo (Jeannie), Andy Schleupner (Judy) and Jeannie Cosentino (Paul) and close friends, Russell Bennet and Linda Bryce. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lillian’s memory may be made to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105 or St. James the Apostle Church.
