Lina M. Scavuzzo, 86, of Union passed away on January 9, 2022. A funeral service will be held at Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave. in Union on Thursday, January 13th at 11am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
Born and raised in Castelvetrano, Sicily, the daughter of John and Natalia (Iardas) LaMonaca, Lina came to the United States in 1956. First settling in Newark, she moved to Union in the early 1960’s. In her earlier years, Lina worked for the Charms Candy Company in Bloomfield before leaving to raise her family. She later worked as the head cook at the Burnet Junior High School in Union. Lina loved animals and cooking, but most of all she loved being with her family.
Lina was the beloved wife of 50 years to the late Joseph Salvatore Scavuzzo. She was the loving mother of Antonietta Polcaro, Vincent Scavuzzo and Natalie Gill (Terry). She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Antonio and Andrew Polcaro, Vincent Scavuzzo, and Jesse and Kacey Gill and her dear siblings, Gasper LaMonaca and Maria Morici.
The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
