Loraine “Lori” F. Claussen passed away October 11th at her home in Springfield, NJ at the age of 66. Born in Summit, NJ to the late Nicholas Amadeo and Loraine Forsee, Lori was raised in Berkeley Heights, NJ. After graduating from Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark, NJ, she went on to study Cosmetology.
In 1976, Lori met her late husband, Mark Claussen, and they wed in 1978 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Summit, NJ. They moved to Summit to start a family and went on to have 3 children, Mark Jr. Victoria Marie, and Mary Lucille. Lori worked in retail for many years, becoming the beloved face of a popular local toy store, as well as working as a town crossing guard where she enjoyed greeting and getting to know many of the other families in town. Lori’s love of people brought her next to the retail industry where she worked at department stores like Lord & Taylor and Century 21. She treated everyone she met with kindness and generosity, making friends wherever she went, with many of those friends later becoming family. Lori’s greatest accomplishment however, was being a mother, and then grandmother, which she always said was her most precious gift in life.
Lori was predeceased by her husband of 43 years Mark Claussen and her sister Lucille Amadeo. She is survived by her son Mark Claussen Jr. and his wife Michelle Claussen, daughter Victoria Reyes and her husband Franklin Reyes, daughter Mary Claussen and her wife Beth Garceau. She is also survived by her 4 loving grandchildren, Mark James, Evelyn, Franklin “Franky” and Noah.
Lori’s presence brought joy to all those who had the privilege of knowing her and she will be deeply missed.
