~~Louis R. Aprea, 89, of Chatham Borough passed away peacefully on May 5, 2017. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 85 Washington Ave in Chatham on Thursday, May 11th at 11:00am. Interment is private. Friends are invited to visit at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St in Chatham on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm.
Born in Passaic, the son of Almerico and Emma (T’joen) Aprea, Lou was raised in Englewood where he graduated from Dwight Morrow High School in 1945. He had also lived in Fort Lee and Summit before moving to Chatham in 1964. A Sergeant in the U.S. Army, Lou served his country in Korea from 1950 to 1952 and would later earn a bachelor’s degree in business from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was an Audit Manager with Kemper Insurance where he spent 42 years in both the New York City and Summit offices. Lou was a long time parishioner at St. Patrick’s. He enjoyed reading and was an avid New York Giants fan, but most of all he loved the beach and spending several months a year in Maui with Marcella, his beloved wife of 57 years.
He was the loving father of Allan Aprea, Emily Aprea and her husband Marc D’Auria, Robert Aprea and his wife Sharon, and William Aprea and his wife Kay. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren; Joe, Jessica, Renee, Matthew, David, Carly, Taylor, TJ and Lorelai, as well as his nephew Drew DeBlasis and niece, Hope DeBlasis. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lou’s memory may be made to the Chatham Emergency Squad, 45 Spring St, Chatham, NJ 07928.
