Lucy M. Ryan, 97, of Springfield, New Jersey passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Overlook Hospital, Summit, NJ.

Lucy was born on May 2, 1916 in Summit, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (nee Maloney) Eakley. She was predeceased by three sisters and one brother.

Lucy was a graduate of St. Vincent Hospital School for Baby Nurses. She worked at Overlook Hospital in the newborn nursery for many years. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church, Short Hills, NJ. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Lifelighters.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Edward F. Ryan. She was the mother of nine children; Catherine Keating and husband Robert, Elizabeth Kane and husband Ronald, Patrick Ryan and wife Catherine, Mary Jupin and husband John, Edward Ryan and wife Barbara, James Ryan and wife Jane, Margaret Ryan, Ann Suchniak and husband Joseph, and Daniel Ryan and wife Karen. She is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Lucy was very family oriented and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2013 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at Bradley, Smith, & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave., Springfield, NJ 07081. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave., Short Hills, New Jersey 07078-2529. An internment will follow in St. Teresa’s Cemetery, Summit, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to Sisters of Charity Convent
