Margaret Baylock

Margaret Baylock, 86, formerly of Union, passed away October 31, 2011. Known as Peggy to her family and friends, she was the wife of the late Thomas F. Baylock, who died in 1990. She was born and raised in the Ironbound section of Newark, NJ, the daughter of William and Mary Lysiak. She attended East Side High School, and in her younger years, Peggy was a musician and performed in an all-girl quartet in Newark. After high school she worked for Igoe Brothers and Celanese Corporation in Newark. Peggy moved with her husband to Union, NJ, in 1949, where she raised a family and resided for 55 years. During that time she worked at the Union Center National Bank and Lucker’s Florist. Peggy was a loving mother, and a cheerful and outgoing person. She was giving of her time and talents, and was recognized for her efforts as a Cub Scout den mother, and then as a den mother trainer. She was also active in the Women’s Auxiliaries of the Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops in which her sons were members. In recent years, Peggy enjoyed volunteer work at Runnells Specialized Hospital where she resided. Survivors: Sons Gregory Baylock, and his wife April of Hellertown, PA, and Christopher Baylock, and his wife Nancy of Wake Forest, NC; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister Lorraine Boutilette, of Kearny, and numerous nieces and nephews. Peggy was predeceased by son Thomas, daughters Patricia and Maureen, and sisters Elizabeth Ziemski, and Virginia Taustine.
