Margaret “Peggy” Toomey O’Connor, the world’s best mother, of Hanover Township passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at home. She was 99. She was born in Orange, NJ on July 7, 1924 at her home on Mount Vernon Ave. She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception Catholic High School, Montclair, NJ. After graduating, Peggy worked as a secretary for years until she met and eventually married Robert J. O’Connor on January 7, 1945. After giving birth to her first child, Karen, Peggy became a stay-at-home housewife for her two children until they went off to college. They moved to Hanover Township in 1956 where they were members of Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel Church, Cedar Knolls, and the Hanover Township Senior Citizens. She was an avid reader and bowler like her husband.
As the beloved wife of Robert J. O’Connor for 64 years, she leaves behind a daughter Karen Pitts and her husband Jon of College Station, Texas along with granddaughter Jane Waugh, her husband Nolan, and three great-grandsons, Logan, Nathan and Connor in Katy, Texas.
She also leaves behind her son Robert O’Connor, his wife Ling, and four grandchildren. Grandson Rob Jr., his wife Lila, and two great-grandchildren Colin and Brennan of Rockaway, NJ. Grandson Brian, his wife Lisa, and great-grandchildren Kendall and Hunter of Eatontown, NJ. Granddaughter Kellette Elliot and her husband Templeton of Clackamas, Oregon. Grandson Kyle O’Connor of Hillsborough, NJ.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 11 am to 1 pm with Prayer Service at 1 pm at the Bradley Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd. Whippany, NJ. Entombment Holy Rood Cemetery, Whippany Rd, Morristown.
