Maria Rea, (nee Ferro), of Summit, NJ, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on December 29, 2018. Born in Naples, Italy, raised in San Bartolomeo In Galdo, Italy. Maria came to the United States in 1958 and resided in Summit, NJ. She worked for CR Bard in Murray Hill for 15 years, retiring many years ago. Maria was a longtime parishioner of St. Teresa of Avila Church and a member of the Summit Senior Citizens. She loved cooking and singing. Family, friends and her religion were important to her.
She is pre-deceased by her husband, Antonio and her son Francesco, and two siblings, Guido Ferro and Marianna Ferro. Maria is survived by her two children, Diana Rea Gann and Franco Rea and his wife Judy, grandmother of Anthony, Joseph and his wife Danielle and Matthew. She is also survived by her siblings, Marta Ferro, Lalia Ferro, Michele Ferro & Milvia Tenti and her husband Gilberto. She was known as Nonna and loved by her family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 9:30 am at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 306 Morris Ave. Summit, NJ. Entombment St. Teresa’s Cemetery. Visiting hours, Sunday, December 30th from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Bradley Brough & Dangler Funeral Home, 299 Morris Ave. Summit, NJ.
