Marie Susan Branin, of Whippany, N.J., 80, passed away peacefully at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center on Wednesday January 5, 2022. She was born to Vincent and Florence Ascione in Newark, N.J. on May 14, 1941. Marie had lived in Bloomfield, West Caldwell, Fort Richardson, Alaska and for the last 51 years in Whippany. She graduated Bloomfield High School in 1959 and Kean University in 1963 with a B.A. in education, specializing in early childhood education. Marie taught kindergarten in the Kearny school system for several years before leaving to be an Army Officer’s Lady at a military installation.
Marie is the first member of her family to graduate college. She leaves a husband of 57 years Norman J. Branin; two sons: James and his wife Melissa, Kevin and his wife Nicole; grandchildren: Jennifer, Sienna, and Dylan. She is also survived by a sister Vivan Leva and her husband Daniel, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mare was a caring and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister-in-law. She was a remarkable teacher who will surely be missed by all. Marie has been fighting cancer for the last several years. She lost, but God has an angel in heaven.
