Ehrhardt, Marion, 96, passed away peacefully at her home in Springfield on Friday, December 16th where she had resided since 1954.


Born in Stirling, NJ Mrs. Ehrhardt graduated from the Benedictine Academy in Elizabeth and Newark Normal School, now Kean University. She was employed as a librarian in Plainfield and as a grammar school teacher in Gillette before leaving the workforce to rear her family. After residing in Watchung and Fairfield, Conn., she relocated back to New Jersey where the family became members of St James the Apostle Church in Springfield.

Mrs. Ehrhardt was a Girl Scout leader and a member of the St James Rosary Altar Society and was a daily communicant until becoming housebound. During the sixties and seventies she worked at J.J. Newberry’s in Springfield where she managed the men’s clothing department. Marion enjoyed gardening and sewing and was an excellent cook who created delicious meals. More than anything else, Marion enjoyed her family and loved birthday and holiday parties with her children and grandchildren

Predeceased by her husband, William, who died in l993, Mrs. Ehrhardt is survived by her children Nancy and her husband David Bernosky of Springfield, Billy and his wife Kathleen of Mountainside, twins Karen Moore of Linden and Kathy and her husband Richard Poston of Chester, Vermont. She also leaves nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and sisters in law Una Ehrhardt and Rita Zellner.
