Mary Ellen Natale, 91, of Springfield, formerly of Long Island, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2015. Born in Harrisburg, PA, Mary Ellen lived on Long Island for about 40 years, settling in Springfield 21 years ago. Mary Ellen was a registered nurse, who worked for the United Presbyterian Nursing Homes in Syosset, New York until her retirement in 1986. As a parishioner of St. James the Apostle Church in Springfield, Mary Ellen served as a longtime Eucharistic minister, and member of the Seniors Club. She volunteered with SAGE Eldercare’s Meals on Wheels Program, and The Women’s Connection also in Summit. Mary Ellen proudly contributed to the Harvard University Nurses Health Study, which studies women’s health and is still in existence, for over 40 years. Mary Ellen also enjoyed travelling.
Predeceased by her husband Anthony, Mary Ellen is survived by her children, Angela Ryan and her husband Thomas, and Anthony Natale and his wife Deborah; grandchildren Natalie, Bridget and Daniel Ryan and Anthony J. and Grace Natale; brother Francis McQuade, of Maplewood, NJ and sister Cecelia McCambridge of Taneytown, MD.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 12noon at St. James the Apostle Church, 45 S. Springfield Ave., in Springfield. There will be a visitation on Tuesday from 9am-11am at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. in Chatham. Cremation will be private.
