Mary L. Bordick

~~Mary Bordick (nee Cattano), 88, of Mount Laurel, NJ and formerly of Morristown, NJ passed away peacefully on September 2, 2015. This was the day of her 53rd wedding anniversary.

Mary was born on December 7, 1926 in Morristown, a town she treasured her entire life. She was a first generation Italian-American and the daughter of the late Joseph and Lilly Cattano (nee Christiano). Mary graduated from Morristown High School, class of 1945.

Mary was a homemaker, proud wife, and loving mother of three boys. She worked for many years in her brother’s Morristown store, Cattano Jewelers. Mary later worked at several fine jewelry stores including Gimbels and Bailey Banks & Biddle. Mary enjoyed bowling, gardening and small projects around the house. She was often seen wearing her good jewelry, paint brush in hand, and small hand tools nearby. She will fondly be remembered for her love of family and friends.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph L. Bordick, and her siblings, Vincent Cattano, Anthony Cattano Sr., Josephine Andreorio, and Rose Amato. Mary also joins in heaven her nephew Anthony Cattano, Jr. and great niece Candace DeChiaro. She is survived by her three children Mark Bordick and his wife Kanchi of Montclair, Wade Bordick of New York City, and Scott Bordick of Mount Laurel. She is also survived by her three grandchildren Tyler, Reece, and Teah Bordick. Mary is also survived by her cherished niece Shirley Buehler, who was like a daughter to her, and many other nieces and nephews. Also surviving Mary is her devoted caretaker and friend Frannie Mellow.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday September 8th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Road in Whippany. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Church of the Assumption, 91 Maple Avenue in Morristown. Interment will be at Holy Rood Cemetery, 61 Whippany Road in Morristown.
