Michael J. Torpey of Chatham, NJ, formerly of New Providence, NJ, passed away after a brief illness at Morristown Medical Center on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at the age of 68. Michael was born in Summit, NJ, the son of Joan (nee Malakie) and Michael “Tony” Torpey.
He was an accomplished Sales Manager for over 40 years at several boutiques and shops in New York and New Jersey. He was known for his commitment and hard work – earning several top Sales awards during his tenure in the industry.
Michaels’ love of family, his kind heart and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Michael is survived by his dear siblings: Mary (Rich) Robinson, Patrick (Cynthia) Torpey, Sean (Trish) Torpey, Kevin Torpey, and Timothy (Karen) Torpey; and his cherished nieces and nephews: Patrick, Meghan, Matthew, Colleen, Heather, Kyle, Delia and Keira as well as many relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents.
