Michael Thomas Reheis

Michael Thomas Reheis, 73, of Berkeley Heights passed away on October 6, 2022.  A funeral mass will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 306 Morris Ave. in Summit on Tuesday, October 11th at 10:45am.  Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.  Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Bradley, Brough & Dangler Funeral Home, 299 Morris Ave., also in Summit on Monday, October 10th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm.

Born and raised in Newark, the son of Frank and Muriel (Monaghan) Reheis, Michael graduated from Seton Hall Prep High School.  He received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University and a master’s in Human Resources Management from Seton Hall University.  Michael began his career in law enforcement as a police officer with the Newark Police Department where he was part of the S.W.A.T. (Special Weapons and Tactics) team.  He later served as a Lieutenant with the Essex County Prosecutor s Office then joined RWJ Barnabas Health as Vice President of Security in West Orange.  A member of the New York Athletic Club and the Deutscher Club of Clark, Michael enjoyed boxing and judo in his younger years.

Michael was the beloved husband of 52 years to Margaret.  He was the loving father of Michael Reheis and his wife Kara and Matthew Reheis and his wife Miriam.  He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Addison, Emerson, Michael, Mattie and Max and his siblings, Frank Reheis and Patricia Waugh. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s memory may be made to The Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.
