Morris A. Sarno

Morris A. Sarno, 89, passed away on Sunday, February 19 at his home in Springfield surrounded by his loving family. Born in Orange, raised in Union, Morris has lived in Springfield for the last 54 years.
He was a Private in the Army during WWII 1942-1943. Morris was a carpenter with Local Union #620 in Madison for 50 years. Afterwards he was the Building Inspector for 1 year, then the Zoning Officer for 10 years for the Township of Springfield. He retired in 1996. Morris was the Past Commander of the American Legion of Millburn, a Parishioner of St. James the Apostle Church.
He loved boating and fishing. Morris is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carmela Sarno (nee Tartaglia), his son Joseph and his wife Karen, his daughter JoAnn Goffreda and her husband Frank, a sister Frances Mayfield, grandchildren James Pieper, Joseph and Andrew Sarno, great-grandchildren Jessica and Amanda Pieper and friend and caregiver Nana.
