Muriel Carol Kern, 92, of Summit, New Jersey, passed away on December 29, 2018. Born in Lemon City, Florida, Muriel was raised in Summit, where she was a lifelong resident. Due to an illness, Muriel was unable to finish high school, but upon recovery, took on the role of caretaker for her mother and family. Muriel was a caring person, who in her earlier years was a candy striper at Overlook Hospital in Summit, and went on to work as a home health aide for the elderly. Muriel loved antiques and auctions. She was an avid read and had a fondness for animals, especially cats.
Muriel was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Margaret Morel; her husband Richard E. Kern, and her daughter Laura Aldrighetti. She is survived by her children Richard E. Kern, Jr., Patricia C. Shilling and Elizabeth Koff; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
